cmdbar

cmdbar is my own macOS app for getting into project work with less repeated setup: saved commands, running tasks and useful tools, close to hand in the menu bar.

The goal

Less setting up, more getting on with the project

Switching between development projects often means repeating the same setup. cmdbar grew from wanting a simpler way to return to a project, open the right tools and carry on with the work.

Where I came in

I developed the product idea, native macOS interface and application, alongside the identity and supporting website.

The work

What we delivered.

Keep the useful things with the project

The menu-bar app keeps saved commands and running tasks with each project. It gives everyday development work a clear starting point without needing another large application open.

Fit around the tools already in use

It works around the terminal and AI tools already used for a project. The app, identity and website all follow the same direction: a small utility with a useful, focused job.

The result

What it made possible.

A native macOS app in active development, bringing the product idea, interface, code and supporting identity together around a frustration from my own working day.
